Examinations are performed at pre-arranged appointment times.
Appointments can be booked by phone or e-mail.
Specialist recommendations, the patient's medical history, outpatient records, and the PET/MR examination request form can be sent to the following e-mail address: kaposvar.petct@sic.medicopus.hu
In the event of an UNSUCCESSFUL examination, a one-time administrative fee of HUF 20,000 will be charged.
PET/MR examinations are primarily performed for oncological and neurological diseases.
PET/MR combines two different imaging modalities into a single examination.
Prior to the examination, a radiopharmaceutical is administered intravenously. Following a waiting period of approximately 10–120 minutes, the distribution of the PET radiopharmaceutical within the body can be assessed during the examination. After the uptake period, the patient is positioned in the PET/MR scanner, which, similarly to conventional MR scanners, is a tunnel-shaped device. Special coils are placed over the area being examined; these coils are used to measure the MR signal.
During the examination, PET data acquisition is performed simultaneously with the MR measurements.
By fusing (combining) the images obtained from the two imaging modalities, it is possible to determine with high accuracy which organ is associated with abnormal radiopharmaceutical uptake, the size of the lesion, and which organs are affected by the disease under investigation.
Depending on the clinical indication and the region being examined, a PET/MR examination usually takes between 20 and 60 minutes, during which the patient must remain completely still inside the scanner.
Due to the MR measurements, the examination is very loud and noisy. If necessary, an intravenous MR contrast agent may be administered, which can further improve diagnostic accuracy. MR contrast agents can only be administered if kidney function is adequate.
Appropriate blood glucose levels are essential for PET/MR examinations. Therefore, patients must not eat or consume sugary drinks for 4–6 hours before the examination. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in inaccurate examination results.
Please continue taking your regular medications as prescribed.
Following the examination, patients should avoid close contact with small children and pregnant women for the remainder of the day.
The contraindications for PET/MR examinations are the same as those for conventional MR examinations. This means that the examination cannot be performed in certain cases involving metallic implants, as some metallic implants are not safe in a high-strength magnetic field.
Examination results will be sent to the patient's registered home address and will also be available through the EESZT system.
Examination fees can only be paid by bank transfer or bank card payment.
